Why Won By One exists
The exclusion of artists and their heavenly creativity from the earth — driven by the economic incentives and political realities of “the industry” — is what Won By One proposes to address by providing a professional educational model alternative to the traditional for-profit music label.
By rewiring financial incentives, trust, and accessibility, we intend to lower the barrier for artists to express and discover themselves in an honorable, professional, safe environment — where they retain career autonomy and intellectual copyright, while learning their craft, the industry, and how to launch their own career.
Label pays for services as an investment — the artist is then in-service to the label.
Artist or grant contracts services “for hire.” The relationship runs the other direction.
Industry education exists to benefit company interests.
Industry education exists to benefit artist interests, full stop.
Intellectual rights, multi-year contracts, registration and distribution are shared with the company.
Artist retains royalties. Registration and distribution are done together, as education, through musiccontracts.com.
Recording, production, and mix / master are billed hourly.
Recording, production, and mix / master are taught as layered education, not metered work.
Marketing, merch, and tours are structured as return on investment for the label.
Simple leads are provided — not services rendered for a cut.
Non-compete, non-collaborate clauses control song content, style, artist image, and time.
Artist retains full control of their career and their assets.
Won By One is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code — providing educational programs, training, and personal development opportunities for creatives and learners of all ages and abilities across the arts, music, and vocational trades; operating facilities and delivering community-based services that advance learning, skill development, and creative expression.
Our initial focus is on songwriting, theory, and music production — streamlining existing services. We are also in discovery of grant and capitalization opportunities for special needs families and houses of worship, with an eye toward expanding into physical artwork and dance workshops.
